SUMMARY:Mindful Rider Retreat: How We Show Up Matters
DESCRIPTION:A weekend to slow down\, tune in\, and transform the way you connect—with yourself and with your horse. \nAre you someone who wants to grow—both as a rider and as a human?\nYou give so much to everyone else. But when’s the last time you paused to give something to yourself? \nThis retreat is designed for equestrians who want to deepen their self-awareness\, unlock greater connection with their horses\, and become the kind of partner a horse wants to follow. \nHow we show up matters.\nOur horses feel everything. They respond to our posture\, our nervous system\, and our energy—far more than to our techniques or cues. This weekend is a chance to explore how presence\, softness\, and self-awareness can transform your relationship with your horse… and yourself. \nYou can attend Saturday or Sunday or both. \nSaturday: The Mindful Rider Experience (No Horse Required)\nTime: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PMCost: $230Min/Max Participants: 4/6 \nA day of deep awareness\, energetic alignment\, and embodied horsemanship. \n8:30 – Opening Circle: We Are All Energy \nMeet us in the air-conditioned comfort of the Wellness Center. We’ll introduce the weekend theme and explore how our inner state sets the tone for connection—with horses and with ourselves. \n9:00 – Session 1: The Energy We Bring (Cathy Mattingly) \nAn abbreviated\, eye-opening\, science-informed look at the nervous system and co-regulation. You can bring your own or place an order with us from a local favorite like Wallace Station or The Midway Bakery. Feel free to gather on the porch or sit on a bench under a tree. \n12:45 – Session 4: Listening Differently: Introduction to Animal Communication (Jenny Salyers) \nLed by intuitive equestrian Jenny\, this session opens a window into what your horse may be trying to tell you. SUMMARY:Nahshon Cook - Clinic
DESCRIPTION:DATES/TIMES\nMay 18-19\, 2024   8am – 4pm \n  \nCOURSE FOCUS\nAs a horseman\, Nahshon’s interests lie in working with horses with mental\, physical and emotional rehabilitation needs. He uses his background in classical dressage to help horses use their bodies in a way that promotes healing and wholeness and helps people connect better and communicate more clearly with their horses. \n  \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nNahshon’s approach to horsemanship is deeply kind\, intuitive and positive. Nahshon is schooled in dressage but works with horse and humans in all disciplines\, including retirees\, trail horses\, and horses who are beloved but not ridden. Learn more on Nahshon’s Facebook page. \n “Nahshon passes for a horse trainer\, but he is truly a conduit and a channel\, and brings words and wisdom to the horse-human connection beyond what I have ever heard.” Alexa Linton\, The Whole Horse Podcast \n Nahshon will do a 45-60 minute lesson with 5-7 human-horse pairs each day. Beginners and ground sessions are welcome. Riders must have basic horse knowledge. \nNahshon’s work is hard to capture in words because it is so intuitive and personal to the individual horse-human partnership.” \nCharlotte Cannon\, herself a gifted and intuitive trainer\, recently attended one of Nahshon’s clinics and had this to say: \n“Each person that walked into the (arena) came with their own dreams and their own baggage. Nahshon seemed to look inside each pair\, see every block and brace\, then immediately asked the right\, but incredibly difficult\, questions. He was direct\, but always fair and kind. He got to your soul and found a simple way to address each thing\, and made a profound impact in an hour (even less sometimes)! \nHis words of wisdom were life changing. Every student was honest\, raw and vulnerable. Each horse responded freakishly fast and well. I was blown away! Watching him address people and horses\, without resistance\, asking for the tiniest change\, which inspired dramatic changes\, was really incredible. \nI can say\, I learned we can affect the horse in ways we have no idea. There is a level of lightness and communication that was beyond my comprehension. I have a whole notebook of revelations to ponder and bring into what we do with all the horses. What an unexpected gift these two days were! If you get a chance to go to one of Nahshon Cook’s Clinics\, go!” \nCharlotte Cannon\, The Cannon Method \n  \nOther people have said: \nNahshon is nothing short of incredible. \nPhenomenal experience! \nI’ve been following him for a while and whatever he’s doing just blows me away. \nIt was such a honor to have spent two days with Nahshon Cook Horsemanship Clinic! \nNashon Cook is a very very special human and we are so fortunate to have him in the world. \nI was fortunate to attend a clinic as an auditor.
