Karin Glassman - Instructor

Karin brings 40 years experience as a riding instructor to Pine Knoll. After earning her B.H.S.A.I. (Horsemasters) at the Potomac Horse Center, she studied at the original American Dressage Institute, where she was introduced to the principles of Body Discipline originated by Tom Poulin. Karin went on to teach riding at the college level while serving two years as Assistant Director of Riding at the University of Massachusetts, four years as Director of Equitation at Wilson College, and ten years as Director of Equine Studies at Delaware Valley College. She also coached private lesson students, consisting primarily of adult amateurs.

A former AHSA “r” dressage judge (1980-1989) and Intercollegiate Dressage Association team coach (2004-2005), Karin’s teaching is augmented by a strong horsemastership background. She has managed eventing, dressage, and college equestrian facilities, and has competed successfully in dressage, sport horse breeding, eventing, hunter, and hunter breeding divisions. Karin earned her USDF Bronze Medal in 2008. In 2005, she became certified as an Equestrian Fitness Trainer through the International Association of Equestrian Fitness Trainers. With both this background and her early foundation in Body Discipline, Karin enjoys integrating principles of core strength, balance, flexibility, body control and self-awareness with classical training and riding practices. During the past year, Karin has taught position lessons for Jane Savoie’s Equisense Systems, Inc. utilizing the new EQ-SmartTack technology.

Karin will be available to teach lessons on your horse or on our lesson/lunge horse OK.  Our new facilities include a workout room/studio and healing/massage room.  These facilities enable us to offer “Enhanced Riding Lessons” combining the studio and lunge work.
